Holden Arboretum
“Looking for a great ride that gets you close to nature?  Take 90 East to Mentor/Kirtland exit #193 and explore the Holden Arboretum.  It got its start in the 1930’s with a hundred pristine acres and now boasts almost 4,000 to explore!  Nearby Yopps Time Out is a great stop for lunch & a drink and if you have room in your saddlebags, you can go east a little ways up route 6 to Sage’s Apples for some great home grown apples.”

“Whenever I get the chance, I love to jump on my bike and ride over to Geneva-on-the-Lake.  Just take I-90 to Geneva exit #218.  One of my favorite spots is The Lake House Inn, located about 6 miles north of exit #218 on route 534—it’s a great stop before getting to the strip, and there’s nothing like sitting on the patio overlooking the lake and having some wine and a plate of crusty baguettes with dipping oil!”

“Want an ALLLLLL day ride?”

“Can you tell I love Geneva?”
Take Route 6 through Chardon and stop at the “Outpost” for a cold beverage.  Then continue on Route 6 until you come to Route 7, turn north and follow to Conneaut.  When you get to Conneaut take a right on Main Street where you’ll find the Rainbow Café, they have some of the best pizza I’ve ever had and you can wash it down with a nice icy beverage of your choice.  When you leave there, head back to Route 7 and go north until you hit 531 or Lake Road.  Lake Road will run you all along the Lake into Geneva on the Lake.  Stop at the Pavilion Bar and Grill on the strip, it’s the only smoking bar on the strip.  Then head back east along Lake Road again, this will take you into Madison where you’ll pick up Route 20.  Keep in mind this leaves from Mentor so adjust to where you live.

Geneva-on-the-LakeJump on 77 South, once you get to Canton look for the Cleveland Avenue exit which is route 800.  Route 800 is almost all two lane country roads and it will take you past Dover Dam.  About 2 miles past Dover Dam is a place called Treva’s Round Up, which is a VERY cool biker bar.  Usually on the weekend the place is packed with nothing but bikes.  After so much country riding you’re probably ready to jump on the bike and blow it out for a few miles so head west on 800 until you see the signs for 77 North.  Jump on 77 North until you get to Arlington Road, turn left from the exit and follow the signs for Portage Lake.  When you get to 619 keep going until you pass South Main Street.  Right after, you’ll come to a place on the left called Upper Deck.  This place is packed on Saturdays and Sundays with Bikes.  You can sit on 1 of 3 decks or the outside bar and overlook Portage Lakes while having a beverage and some of their great food….to get home just take 77 North.
